Auger-Aliassime was injured against Alcaraz:

Auger-Aliassime was injured against Alcaraz: "I'm not a big fan of withdrawals".

On Monday, Félix Auger-Aliassime was swept aside by Carlos Alcaraz (6-3, 6-1, 6-1). The Canadian, who had put in a very good tournament, was simply no match for the Spaniard, and not just because of his excellent level of play.

In fact, the 21st player in the world was physically weakened by a thigh injury. Asked about this in the press conference, he explained: "It's been a different rhythm in the first week of a Grand Slam, because with the weather, I had to get ready to play every day from the start. I played on Saturday and Sunday, so I don't know if that had any impact.

I was fine, I thought I'd managed the week well with my team, but it happened and for the moment I don't have any answers. If it had been more serious, I would have given up. But personally, I'm not a big fan of dropping out, unless you can't play."

Andy has withdrawn, Most sensible decision he's made this afternoon, to be honest. Sad to see the match end this way. 😢

Andy is clearly struggling with an injury atm, so why carry on & aggravate it even more, especially with Wimbledon coming up 🤔
