Dimitrov much too strong for Monfils at Wimbledon

Dimitrov much too strong for Monfils at Wimbledon

There was no match on Friday. Faced with a very serious Grigor Dimitrov, Gaël Monfils soon found himself without a solution and left London in the third round (6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in 1h46).

Despite two fine early victories, the veteran Frenchman simply didn't have the level of tennis to trouble this Dimitrov. Although not playing badly (16 aces, 29 winners, 38 unforced errors), Monfils appeared far too nervous, particularly on the return, to have any hope of success.

On the other side of the draw, the world No.10 is establishing himself even more as one of the main outsiders for this year's title. Extremely strong on serve (95% of points won on first serve), incisive on return and above all highly effective in the exchange (27 winners, 9 unforced errors), the Bulgarian left his opponent with little to play for.

After a very difficult second round in which he had to come back from two sets down, the 33-year-old seems to be coming into his own and will be a gift to play for no-one.

Next up for him is a round-of-16 tie against the winner of the Medvedev-Struff match.

I've never been a fan of Coco as I don't like her attitude on court.

Ridiculous how Coco was so dependent on her 'box'. I think this coaching during the match is a distraction to many players. It has changed the game. And not in a good way.
