Gauff beats Jabeur and awaits Swiatek in the semi-finals!
Coco Gauff continues to make headway at Porte d'Auteuil. Opposed to a very enterprising Ons Jabeur, she was initially roughed up before finally regaining the upper hand to win in just under 2 hours. Logically enough conceding the first set (6-4), the 20-year-old gradually gained in power.
Putting more and more weight into her beautiful game and showing herself to be far more percussive on the return, she finally smothered an overwhelmed Tunisian (4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in 1h57). Sensing her opponent's growing pressure, Jabeur cracked, committing more and more errors (30 winners, 38 unforced errors). Despite some wonderful points, she didn't have what it took today to stop the world number 3.
Although she didn't play her best tennis (22 winners, 27 unforced errors), Gauff was able to stay focused and negotiate the important points to perfection. Qualified for the semi-finals, she could face the undisputed queen of the WTA circuit: Iga Swiatek.
