Fritz doesn't cry and gives up just one set to Rinderknech

The pre-match had been heated and the tone had been set by Arthur Rinderknech, who said, in reference to their previous duel at Roland Garros in 2023: "The atmosphere will be calmer and he'll cry a little less this time, I think".

The atmosphere was indeed calmer on Thursday on Court 12 of the All England Lawn Tennis Club than on Court Suzanne Lenglen just over a year ago. And Taylor Fritz didn't cry.

But, as on the Paris clay court, the American didn't give up more than one set to the Frenchman, winning in two hours and 17 minutes (6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4). The world n°12 will face Chile's Alejandro Tabilo in the third round.
