Murray withdraws from Wimbledon - it's not so official!

A few hours ago, we announced Andy Murray's withdrawal from Wimbledon. However, it seems that the withdrawal is not really official.

Indeed, after a very difficult season, the Scot found himself once again hampered by his body. With a back injury, he was forced to retire in the last 16 of the Queen's tournament against Thompson this week (4-1 ab.).

Declaring himself ready to do anything to compete in London, the former world number 1 quickly decided to undergo surgery on a cyst on his back. It was against this backdrop that the message posted on X by the ATP seemed to announce Andy Murray's withdrawal. However, the information was obviously denied by the Murray clan and the message deleted.

While the 37-year-old's withdrawal remains entirely credible, nothing is yet set in stone and hopes of seeing him play in London in 8 days' time are not dead.

Stay tuned!

Andy, surely thinking about your future health & family is more important than trying to play at another tournament, whether it's the Olympics or another ATP tournament. I realise that as a sportsman

Wimbledon should have waited a couple of weeks. Billy might not have needed the wildcard after all.
