Murray to drop out of Top 100 ATP rankings

Murray to drop out of Top 100 ATP rankings

Beaten in the first round by Marcos Giron (6-3, 6-4) on the Stuttgart grass court on Tuesday, Andy Murray will drop out of the Top 100 of the ATP rankings next Monday. The Briton, former world No.1, will lose the points for the Chalenger 125 in Nottingham which he won last season (he has already lost those for his 2023 title in Surbiton this week).

Murray, 37, hadn't been ranked higher than 100th in the world since January 2022, over 2 years ago. At that time, he was back in the Top 100 for the first time since hip surgery in 2018.

The Scotsman will lose around 30 places to fall to around 130th in the world on Monday.

Andy has withdrawn, Most sensible decision he's made this afternoon, to be honest. Sad to see the match end this way. 😢

Andy is clearly struggling with an injury atm, so why carry on & aggravate it even more, especially with Wimbledon coming up 🤔
