Nadal justifies: "It's best for my body".
Rafael Nadal has officially withdrawn from the 2024 edition of Wimbledon. The aim for the Spaniard is to prepare as well as possible for the Paris Olympic Games (July 27 - August 04), which he will be playing not only in singles, but also in doubles alongside Carlos Alcaraz. This is what he explained via his social networks on Thursday.
Rafael Nadal: "At Roland Garros, I was asked about my summer schedule, and since then I've been training on clay. It was announced yesterday that I'll be taking part in the Summer Olympics in Paris, my last Olympics."
With this goal in mind, we feel that the best thing for my body is not to change surfaces and to continue playing on clay until then. That's why I won't be taking part in Wimbledon this year. I'm sad that I won't be able to experience the wonderful atmosphere of this extraordinary event, which will always remain in my heart, and to be with all the British fans who have always given me so much support. I'm going to miss you all.
To prepare for the Olympics, I'll be playing in the Bastad tournament in Sweden. It's a tournament I played at the start of my career, where I had a great time both on and off the court. I look forward to seeing you all there."
