Sinner assumes his status and wins in Halle!

Sinner assumes his status and wins in Halle!

Jannik Sinner is indifferent to the pressure.

In his first tournament as world number 1, the Transalpine didn't hesitate to win his first career title on grass. He now holds at least one title on every surface.

After a fine, if difficult, run, Sinner had to face one of the world's best players on the surface: Hubert Hurkacz. In a match of waiters, he showed himself to be a calm Olympian, managing the important moments perfectly.

As uncompromising on serve as his opponent, since no break point was achieved in this match, the Italian simply managed the decisive games a little better to come out on top in 2 sets (7-6, 7-6).

At 22 years of age, the current world number 1's nervous and tennis solidity commands respect, and everything seems to suggest that he is heading for a historic career.

With this title, he also achieves the feat of becoming, in the 21st century, the third world No. 1 to win the first tournament following his rise to the top of the ranking. The first since Andy Murray in 2016.

Andy, surely thinking about your future health & family is more important than trying to play at another tournament, whether it's the Olympics or another ATP tournament. I realise that as a sportsman

Wimbledon should have waited a couple of weeks. Billy might not have needed the wildcard after all.
