Sinner off to a solid start at Roland-Garros

Sinner off to a solid start at Roland-Garros

Without necessarily offering a dazzling level of tennis (31 winners, 24 unforced errors), Jannik Sinner held his ground perfectly on Monday. Facing Christopher Eubanks (46th), the Italian delivered a serious and diligent match, more than enough to qualify (6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in 2h09).

Faced with an opponent who didn't have enough resources to worry him, the world number 2 kept things simple, relying on his usual patterns of play. Taking advantage of his opponent's irregularity (41 unforced errors) and dominating the exchange with his powerful strokes, the Transalpine secured the essential points.

That said, such is his immense margin over the majority of players that it's hard to know whether his hip discomfort has fully disappeared. What's more, there's no guarantee that he'll be tested much more in the next round, since it's one of Sunday's heroes, Richard Gasquet, who he'll face on Wednesday.

"Warns competition"? Lmao. Please tell me you're trolling with this headline. It remains painfully obvious that De Minaur simply isn't a Slam contender. Hell, Alex would need a plethora of injury luck

Superb result and a seeding at Wimbledon. Imagine a 1st round draw against Murray. That'd be a match with one generation passing onto the next....as long as Murray gets a wild card of course for the m
