Zverev holds his ground and awaits Fritz in the last 16

Alexander Zverev is no grass-court specialist. Without being bad on the surface, it's quite clear that he performs a little less well there than on other surfaces. The best example of this is his Wimbledon record: he has never progressed beyond the Round of 16 in London.

And yet, the world number 4 is off to a very good start. In 3 matches, the German has not conceded a single set, nor a single service game.

Against a fine Cameron Norrie on Saturday, Zverev never wavered. Brilliant on serve and incisive in the rallies (15 aces, 91% of points won on first serve, 53 winners, 27 unforced errors), he controlled the whole match - well, almost the whole match. Indeed, the finalist at the last French Open almost found himself, somewhat against the run of play, embroiled in a dangerous fourth act.

Undaunted, Zverev eventually won the third set's interminable tie-break (17-15) to claim a solid 3-set victory (6-4, 6-4, 7-6 in 2 hours).

For a place in the quarter-finals, which would be a first for him, he could well meet Taylor Fritz, unless Tabilo can surprise the American.
