Kei Nishikori, born on December 29, 1989, in Matsue, Japan, is one of the most successful Asian men in tennis history. Coached by Michael Chang and Dante Bottini at various points in his career, Nishikori has been renowned for his speed, agility, and precision on the court. He turned professional in 2007 and soon established himself as a formidable opponent on the ATP Tour.

Nishikori's breakthrough came in 2014 when he became the first Asian male player to reach a Grand Slam final in the Open Era, achieving this milestone at the US Open. Although he lost in the final to Marin Čilic, his performance throughout the tournament was a testament to his skill and determination. Over the years, Nishikori has won 12 ATP singles titles and has consistently been ranked among the top ten players globally, with his highest ranking being World No. 4 in March 2015.

In his personal life, Nishikori has been private but has shared glimpses of his life with the public. He married his longtime girlfriend Mai Yamauchi, a former Japanese model, in December 2020, and the couple welcomed their first child in 2021.

Beyond tennis, Nishikori enjoys playing golf and has been known to play rounds with friends and fellow players during tournament downtimes. He is also an avid fan of the comic series One Piece.

A few interesting facts about Kei Nishikori are that he began playing tennis at the age of five, and by 14, he had moved to the United States to train at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, which has produced numerous champions. Additionally, Nishikori is fluent in English and often partakes in interviews and media promotions in his second language, showcasing his dedication not only to tennis but also to connecting with the global community.
