TennisTemple: over 20 years of expertise, a leading online tennis reference

Last updated: 15/04/2026

Founded on June 21, 2005 in France by two enthusiasts — Thomas and Guillaume Nonque, both skilled amateur players and still students at the time — TennisTemple quickly became a pioneer of online tennis media. At a time when Rafael Nadal had just won his very first Roland-Garros and when there was no media offering high-quality news, results, or daily updates, TennisTemple successfully filled a real and lasting need.

Mission & vision

From the very beginning, TennisTemple (TT) aimed to offer tennis fans around the world a unique, all-in-one platform:

  • Daily tennis news

  • Live scores

  • Complete tournament draws

  • Match schedules for the day

  • Detailed player profiles

  • Up-to-date ATP & WTA rankings

  • Community tools: comment sections, forums, live discussions, prediction contests

The idea: allow fans to fully live their passion, follow tennis in real time, and share it with an engaged community.

Expertise & technical innovation

TennisTemple’s credibility is built on strong technical expertise (notably that of Thomas Nonque, CTO) and a constant focus on innovation. Ultra-responsive point-by-point live scores—at a time when this was still rare—and live discussion spaces quickly made the site a must-visit destination for fans. Early on, “social network”-type features were added: user profiles, groups, interactions, games, and an active community.

From the start, user experience has been at the core of TennisTemple’s priorities. Thomas and Guillaume created TT in 2005 with the goal of delivering a unique experience centered on sharing the passion for tennis. All innovations are therefore designed first and foremost to enhance this user experience.

Particular attention is paid to advertising and user feedback on the topic. Proper integration of advertising formats is crucial for any media offering a free version supported by ads. In 2025, significant work was done to reduce ad pressure, especially on mobile apps. Continuous attention is also given to Web and Mobile Web performance, notably through close monitoring of Google’s Core Web Vitals. The goal is to ensure optimal page loading speed (LCP), interactivity (INP), and visual stability (CLS), delivering an optimal user experience.

Growth & recognition

  • From its very first months (2005), TennisTemple gained recognition from major players such as Tennis Magazine (a leading publication since 1976), with which it formed a partnership to provide news content for the Tennis Magazine website.

  • Since 2005, TennisTemple has regularly served as a reliable source for other websites and media. It is cited in the “References” or “External links” sections of more than 60 Wikipedia pages. The oldest references date back to 2011 (February 2011 in sports) and the most recent to 2025 (Mirra Andreeva profile).

  • Until 2010, strong focus on live coverage, quality, and data update responsiveness, while ensuring coverage of major news.

  • In 2011, launch of mobile and tablet apps, iOS and Android, enabling cross-platform accessibility.

  • In 2012, introduction of a permanent prediction contest, offering the community another way to share their passion for tennis and boost engagement.

  • Also in 2012, partnership signed with Agence France Presse (AFP), from which TennisTemple purchases news wires as well as recent, high-quality photos used to illustrate editorial content. This partnership is still active in 2025.

  • In 2020 and 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the site refined its production model: after experimenting with community contributions and partnerships with press agencies to support its Editor-in-Chief (Guillaume Nonque), TennisTemple gradually built a more traditional, solid, and recognized editorial team.

  • In 2022/2023, development and launch of new iOS and Android apps, followed in 2024 by bug fixes and the addition of community-requested features (notably removal of poorly calibrated or auto-playing sound ads, addition of a dark mode option, etc.).

  • In 2024, the TennisTemple editorial team takes its current shape: four tennis-specialized journalists/editors join the team led by Guillaume (Editor-in-Chief). The team is now also supported by a Community Manager who manages social media and maintains the link with the community both on and off the platform.

  • In early 2025, major Web and Mobile Web performance optimizations are carried out to enhance user experience, particularly based on Google’s Core Web Vitals criteria. A new boost is also given to the prediction contest with the launch of custom prediction leagues, allowing users to create their own competitions with friends.

  • In June 2025, MSN integrates TennisTemple articles into its news platform, confirming the reliability, credibility, and professionalism of the TT editorial team. An additional signal of trust that reinforces TennisTemple’s position as a leading tennis media outlet

Professional editorial team & reliability

Since 2021, TennisTemple has laid the foundations for a true professional editorial team. In 2023, it officially launched, then further structured and refined in 2024, reaching full efficiency and rhythm in early 2025. It is led by an Editor-in-Chief (Guillaume Nonque), supported by several tennis-specialized journalists and editors.

Content produced today includes:

  • Ultra-responsive and comprehensive news

  • In-depth analysis, exclusive interviews, features, and reports

  • Official statements, press conferences, player reactions

  • Videos, reports, infographics, covering tennis from every angle

The editorial approach is based on professional rigor: source verification, transparency, ethical standards, and impartial reporting. For more details, see our editorial charter, our fact-checking process, our policy on anonymous sources, and our corrections policy.

Result: a lasting reference

With more than two decades of work, TennisTemple has established itself as a leading online tennis media outlet. It fully delivers on its promise to be “the temple of tennis on the Internet” — a place where enthusiasts, experts, and newcomers meet, stay informed, debate, and share emotions. It is also a versatile, multi-platform media, with a Web version, an optimized Mobile Web version, and two apps: Android (500k+ downloads, rated 4.7/5), iOS for iPhone (rated 4.7/5), and iOS for iPad (rated 4.7/5).

And this is only the beginning: TennisTemple continues to innovate, expand its services, and enrich its content to further strengthen its credibility, authority, and trust among French and global audiences in the months and years to come.

Ownership & funding

TennisTemple is published by TGNC (RCS Pontoise 504 914 433), a company 100% owned by its two founders, Thomas and Guillaume Nonque. No institutional, political, or industrial shareholders are involved in the company’s capital or editorial decisions.

TennisTemple’s business model relies on three complementary revenue streams:

  • Display advertising (Web, Mobile Web, iOS & Android apps), in partnership with recognized ad networks

  • Premium subscriptions for users seeking an ad-free experience and access to advanced features

  • Virtual goods purchases made by users within the site and apps (credits, boosts, etc.)

No public funding, government subsidies, or political party contributions are involved in the operation of the media. Any partnerships (AFP for photo wires, for example) are standard commercial agreements, strictly separate from editorial content.

Independence & editorial separation

Editorial decisions are made exclusively by the Editor-in-Chief (Guillaume Nonque) and his team. No advertiser, commercial partner, or shareholder can influence the selection, treatment, or publication of journalistic content. Sponsored content, when it exists, is clearly identified as such and is not produced by the editorial team. For more details, see our editorial charter.
