Santoro fascinated by Sinner: "At the level of Federer's domination in 2004-2006 or Djokovic's in 2011".

Santoro fascinated by Sinner: At the level of Federer's domination in 2004-2006 or Djokovic's in 2011.

For L'Equipe, Fabrice Santoro looks back on the Australian Open final won by Jannik Sinner, who claimed his second consecutive title in Melbourne.

Full of praise for the current world No.1's level of play, he believes that Sinner could win it all this year: "He can win any Grand Slam he takes part in. I said that last year before the French Open, and he's improved even more since then.

For example, he lost two matches on clay last year: against Tsitsipas in Monte-Carlo, where he was robbed, and against Alcaraz at Roland-Garros, where he led two sets to one. [...]

The last time he lost a match without winning a set was against Djokovic in the final of the ATP Finals 2023.

Last year, when he lost in the Grand Slam, he went to the fifth set every time, and in the other tournaments, to the third set every time.

He's never left the court without at least winning a set for fourteen months, which is huge and very revealing.

It's on a par with Federer's great domination in 2004-2006 or Djokovic's in 2011. And I'm not sure they've done as well, or even better."

It doesn't mean a thing, it's nothing but a disappointment to honest tennis lovers - his doping ruined tennis. He shouldn't have played at all in the past 14 months. He should be stripped of this tournament title and all titles since he was caught doping. Why is there one criterion for him and another for all doped players before him?
