De Minaur ousts Boyer to reach the third round of the Australian Open

The fortunes of Australian tennis have been mixed since the start of the fortnight in Melbourne, but Alex De Minaur is holding his own.

He will be one of only two local players in the third round of the Australian Open in the men's draw, along with Vukic (unless Schoolkate pulls off the feat against Sinner).

On Rod Laver Arena, the Australian, seeded 8th, started as the favorite in his match against American qualifier Tristan Boyer, who defeated Coria in five sets in the first round.

De Minaur, on the other hand, is confident after his three-set win over Botic van de Zandschulp, and the unwavering support of the crowd is a real asset.

In the end, the 25-year-old made the most of a two-hour match (6-2, 6-4, 6-3), conceding just two break points in the process.

The player who has never progressed beyond the round of 16 in Melbourne will now face Francisco Cerundolo, who defeated Facundo Diaz Acosta on retirement, for a place in the second week.
