Sinner confirms Cahill's retirement: I feel lucky to be his last player on the circuit

The news of the day in the tennis world isn't Jannik Sinner's victory in the second round of the Australian Open.

His victory over Tristan Schoolkate in four sets was overshadowed by his post-match statements. Speaking to Eurosport Italia, the current world number 1 assured us that Darren Cahill would no longer be his coach in 2026.

In the post-match press conference, Jannik Sinner confirmed this information, as Darren Cahill will be retiring at the end of this season.

"Darren has given me so much. But it's not over yet, and it's still a long year. I don't want to dwell on his retirement today.

All I can say is that I feel happy and lucky to be his last player on the circuit. He's an incredible person, as well as being an excellent coach.

That goes for me, but also for all the other players he worked with. For me, it's just an honor.

I hope we can have a good season. We'll see what happens in the future.

He's got a great family, and there are very good things in store for him after his coaching career," he assured reporters.

Hopefully Cahill will continue to share his expertise and knowledge and be an announcer. Very few people understand the game like he does. (Many of the other announcers I have to turn the mute on.)
