Cachin believes in his chances against Nadal: "I think he's at a level where we can at least play to try and win".

Cachin believes in his chances against Nadal: I think he's at a level where we can at least play to try and win.

This Monday, Pedro Cachin will attempt to unseat a sacred statue in Spain: Rafael Nadal. The Argentine, who defeated Frances Tiafoe in the second round (7-6, 3-6, 6-4), has no intention of returning to the court already beaten. Aware of the importance of the match (which will surely be watched by the whole world), the 91st player in the world wants to concentrate on the moment. He will enter the Court Manolo Santana to challenge the king of clay (who is playing for the last time in Madrid).

Asked in the press conference about the challenge that awaits him, Cachin remained optimistic: "It's one of the goals of a tennis player's life. I played with Djokovic last year on Centre Court at Wimbledon. Playing with Rafa is of course a dream. I've been watching him since, I don't know, 2005, I think it was the first Roland Garros. I remember watching it on a Sunday in bed and now it's my turn to play... I'm going to face it with a lot of fear, of course, but I've had time to really think about what I want for this match. I think we're now at a level where we can at least play and try to win. So, if you tell me that I'm playing with the Nadal of five years ago, I say to you: Listen, I'm not going to win. [...] Today, I think that with Rafa, we can at least aim for a big match."
