Gaël Monfils withdrew from his Round of 16 match against Ben Shelton at the Australian Open on Monday.

The Frenchman has had a number of physical problems throughout his career, preventing him from completing many matches.

This is his 23rd withdrawal in his career. He has also withdrawn before a match on 10 occasions. With a cumulative total of 33, he becomes the player with the most withdrawals and forfeits, tied with Tommy Haas.
