John McEnroe raves about Monfils: "One of the three most talented players not to have won a Grand Slam".
Qualifying for the last 16 of the Australian Open at the age of 38 by ousting world No. 4 Taylor Fritz, Gaël Monfils continues to surprise the tennis world and prove his competitiveness.
Ahead of his match against Ben Shelton on Monday, Monfils is impressing many observers and former players, such as John McEnroe, who was full of praise for the Frenchman on Eurosport :
"He had a brilliant match strategically. This guy is incredible. He managed to outplay Fritz, something I never imagined would happen.
I can't believe Monfils is playing so well at this stage of his career. As I mentioned before, he's one of the three most talented players never to have won a Grand Slam.
Monfils, Kyrgios and Zverev are the three. He played like he thought he had a chance. I can't believe it."
