Wawrinka savors: Melbourne holds a special place in my heart.

Stan Wawrinka will experience the joys of Grand Slam tournaments at least once more. 161ᵉ in the world this week, the 39-year-old Swiss is now a long way from his best. Determined to continue enjoying himself on the court, despite the passing years, the former world number 3 is an example of determination and passion.

Magnificent winner of the Australian Open in 2014, 'Stan the man' has learned that the organization of the first major of the season has decided to offer his former winner a wild-card entry into the main draw of the 2025 edition of the tournament.

When asked about this, Wawrinka made no secret of his satisfaction: "I'm incredibly grateful to have received a wildcard for the Australian Open in 2025. Melbourne holds a special place in my heart. It's where I won my first Grand Slam and it's one of the greatest milestones in my career.

The city, the people, the noisy fans and the electric atmosphere make the Australian Open so special to me, and I'm really looking forward to getting back on court in Melbourne."
