Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire from the 1st round of the Australian Open after suffering an adductor injury in his match against Francesco Passaro.
At the start of the 2nd set, with the score 7-5, 2-1 in his opponent's favor, the world No. 10 threw in the towel for the third consecutive Grand Slam.
Dimitrov had already withdrawn last year in the quarter-finals of the US Open against Frances Tiafoe and in the round of 16 at Wimbledon against Daniil Medvedev.
It was also his second withdrawal of the season, following the semi-final in Brisbane against Jiri Lehecka.
In total, Dimitrov has accumulated six Grand Slam withdrawals since 2021, proof that his body is beginning to show signs of fatigue at the age of 34.
