Djokovic could be out until the French Open

Novak Djokovic was unable to defend his chances 100% at the Australian Open.

The Serb, record holder of the number of titles in Melbourne with ten trophies in ten finals, was unable to add a 25th Grand Slam at the start of the 2025 season.

A leg injury prevented him from playing to the best of his ability against Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.

Despite his victory over the Spaniard, Djokovic then came up short in the semi-finals against Alexander Zverev.

The pain finally kicked in, and the former world number 1 threw in the towel after losing the first set in a tie-break.

As he left the Rod Laver Arena, Djokovic was whistled at by a section of the Australian public. A few days later, the Serbian legend posted a photo of his medical examination on social networks.

But his injury could keep him off the courts and away from competition for some time to come.

According to Forbes, the rehabilitation required to recover from a torn hamstring will take at least two months.

This would mean that Djokovic would have to miss at least the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000s.

At the end of last year, Djokovic, who has just entered his 1000th week in the top 100 of the ATP rankings, announced his intention to concentrate solely on Grand Slam titles.

With this in mind, he may also choose to forego the start of the clay-court season in order to focus on his next major objective, which should be a fourth French Open title in the spring.
