Babolat loses its flag-bearer: "It took some time to realize".
If there's one tennis brand that has totally changed category thanks to one person, it's Babolat. Long marginalized in the face of giants such as Wilson and Head, the French brand made a powerful name for itself in the tennis world thanks to one man: Rafael Nadal.
Tying its destiny firmly to that of the King of clay, Babolat has developed massively, attracting many fans, as well as a number of great players, inspired in one way or another by the Spaniard (Fognini, Tsonga, Thiem, Alcaraz).
When asked about the consequences of the Majorquin's retirement for the brand, Jean-Christophe Verborg, Babolat's head of player relations, explains: "It took a little time to realize when he announced his retirement. But we're staying with him, especially with his academy. The current contract continues, we stay with him whatever his choices."
So, a page is being turned for the French equipment manufacturer, but fortunately for them, another one is being created thanks to a certain Carlos Alcaraz.
