Vesnina: "Now that we have Sinner and Alcaraz, it will be harder for Medvedev to win Grand Slams".
Daniil Medvedev has won just one Grand Slam, at the US Open in 2021. Since then, the Russian has contested three finals and lost all three.
Yet he led two sets to nil in two of them, against Rafael Nadal at the Australian Open in 2022, and against Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open in 2024.
Elena Vesnina commented on Medvedev's chances of winning a Grand Slam again: "Now that we have Sinner and Alcaraz, it will be harder for Medvedev to win Grand Slams.
They shared all the titles last year.
But I think there's still a chance anyway. Medvedev is still one of the contenders to win every Grand Slam. He's still young enough to be able to win these tournaments.
If we're talking about Novak Djokovic, it's more complicated. Five-set matches are much more difficult for him, but Medvedev, Rublev and Khachanov are in such good physical condition that they can win a Grand Slam.
They still have a chance."
