Against Cobolli here, it will be different from Roland-Garros," says Zverev ahead of his quarterfinal in Halle
Playing at home in Germany for the Halle tournament, Zverev advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Italian Sonego in three tight sets (3-6, 6-4, 7-6). In a press conference after his victory in Halle, he reflected on the match:
"Neither of us had many break opportunities. The key to the match, I think, was staying calm at 5-5. It was a very important match. Then, I managed to play an almost perfect tie-break. I’m happy with the result and the match I played."
Facing Cobolli in the next round, the German knows his opponent will be eager to show something new after their Roland-Garros clash last May (Zverev won 6-2, 7-6, 6-1):
"Against Cobolli here, it will be different from Roland-Garros. Grass and clay are completely different surfaces. I think Cobolli is a great player, very young, and he’s improving week after week. And it’s really fun because I enjoy spending time with him. I hope it will be an entertaining match—we’ll see what happens.
