Andy Murray Confirms He'll Keep Helping Jack Draper Despite Ranking Slump
After an injury-plagued year, Jack Draper has fallen to 155th in the world — but Andy Murray is determined to keep helping him.
Andy Murray still plans to accompany Jack Draper, who is preparing his return to the tour for the start of the 2027 season.
After a year marked by injuries, the Brit is now ranked 155th in the world, far from his best ranking.
The two men had begun working together in May, after Draper's split with Jamie Delgado.
But injuries to the left arm and knee of the 24-year-old quickly disrupted their collaboration.
"It is still planned that I help him"
Speaking to Sky Sports, Murray confirmed his intention to continue helping his compatriot, even though the details remain to be defined.
"Yes, it is still planned that I help him. I don't yet know exactly how that will go. I'm not entirely sure, because his ranking has dropped.
I don't know if he'll be able to enter the Australian Open directly or if he'll have to rely on wildcards.
We'll see. I hope he can soon resume training and prepare for the new season. It's been a peculiar year," explained the former world No. 1.
Murray also reflected on this first coaching experience, which was disrupted by Draper's physical issues.
"I did a bit of coaching, which I enjoyed, but Jack had several injuries and was away from the tour for quite a while.
So I couldn't invest as much as I would have liked. I still like coming to watch some tennis, but I'm happy doing what I'm doing with my kids right now," he added.
