Titré à Anvers l'an dernier, il avait choisi de ne pas défendre son trône cette année et de disputer l'ATP 500 de Tokyo à la place. Il y a été nettement battu en quarts par Giron ce vendredi et reculera donc à nouveau au classement lundi.
