Berrettini savors Italy's Davis Cup title: "Let's stop for a moment to understand what we've done".

Italy wrapped up the 2024 tennis season less than a week ago with a second consecutive Davis Cup title.

Buoyed by Jannik Sinner's incredible season, the Squadra Azzurra overcame Argentina, Australia and the Netherlands in the Final 8 to retain their title.

Matteo Berrettini, who played a key role in Italy's triumph by winning the decisive doubles match in the quarter-finals and then his two singles matches against Kokkinakis and Van de Zandschulp, savored the moment.

As a reminder, the 28-year-old was injured last year and watched his compatriots' success from the sidelines.

Passed over by Lorenzo Musetti in the mind of captain Filippo Volandri after the quarter-finals, Berrettini was a major player in his country's title.

According to information from Corriere Dello Sport, he sent a message to his teammates' WhatsApp group a few days after lifting the cup in Malaga: "Let's stop for a moment to understand what we've done."
