Binaghi: Italy is the strongest nation in the world

Angelo Binaghi, President of the Italian Tennis Federation, looked back on the Italian players' season and said proudly: "Today, Italy is the strongest nation in the world.

This is a success for the whole country, of which we should be proud. It was an extraordinary year. Jasmine Paolini won in Dubai, then reached the finals of the French Open and Wimbledon.

They won Olympic gold and the Billie Jean King Cup. We win every week. We have extraordinary boys and girls, both on and off the court.

I'd like to pay tribute to the two captains, Filippo Volandri (Davis Cup) and Tathiana Garbin (BJK Cup), who have created two close-knit groups."
