Seven confrontations, and relief at last. Jasmine Paolini has finally beaten Iga Swiatek, and in what fashion! A stunning victory (6-1, 6-2) that sends her to the semifinals of the Wuhan WTA 1000, where Coco Gauff awaits her.

Seven duels later, Jasmine Paolini has finally gotten the measure of Iga Swiatek, and did so in style, winning 6-1, 6-2. Thanks to this great victory, the Italian advances to the semifinals of the Wuhan WTA 1000.

She expressed her joy during the on-court post-match interview, before discussing her upcoming match against Coco Gauff:

"I'm so happy. Every time I play against her, it's so difficult. Finally, I won a match (against Swiatek)! I'm very satisfied with my level. She's an incredible player and it means a lot to me to play a match like this against her. [...]

Coco is another tough opponent. She plays incredibly every week, she's very consistent. It's definitely going to be tough since it's a semifinal. But I'm super happy to be in the final four here in Wuhan, it's an amazing feeling.
