Paolini reflects on her double victory in Rome: It's something I never would have imagined, even in my wildest dreams

The standout moment of Jasmine Paolini's season will remain her double victory in Rome, as the Italian won the tournament in singles, then in doubles with her regular partner Sara Errani.

Paolini played the WTA Finals for the second consecutive season, confirming her excellent last season which had seen her surprisingly win the WTA 1000 in Dubai and reach the finals of two Grand Slam tournaments in singles, at Roland-Garros and then Wimbledon.

This season, Paolini did not reach a single Major quarterfinal, but won the WTA 1000 in Rome in front of her home crowd against Coco Gauff. She also won the same tournament in doubles alongside Sara Errani against the pair Veronika Kudermetova/Elise Mertens, the future winners of the WTA Finals this year. The 29-year-old player reflected on this double.

"This year, I won Rome in singles and in doubles. It's crazy, something I never would have imagined, even in my wildest dreams. It was also a year of progression, with many changes that tested me in a certain way.

I had a season that was in some ways better than last year. The year 2025 has been less good for me at the Grand Slam tournaments, but I played more matches overall, so in a way, it was a better season than last year," Paolini stated for Super Tennis.
