Berrettini savors the moment: "Sinner told me he'd like to win the Davis Cup with me".
Injured in 2023, Matteo Berrettini had to come to the Davis Cup finals as a spectator, and was only able to experience his nation's coronation in that role. This year, however, the Transalpine donned an entirely different costume.
Along with Jannik Sinner, the colossus was instrumental in Italy's Davis Cup triumph, and confessed to feeling very happy about the achievement. Interviewed at the press conference, he explained that the title was something he and Sinner had believed in from the outset: "When we hugged in 2023 after the last point, Jannik told me he'd like to win the Davis Cup with me.
He didn't say next year, but sooner or later, but we're slightly competitive and we've decided to win it now! This shows the level of Italian tennis at the moment."
