Cahill will no longer coach Sinner in 2026

Jannik Sinner will be in action in the third round of the Australian Open.

For the first time since Shanghai, the Italian lost a set in an official match, but in the end, the world number 1 and current Melbourne titleholder came through (4-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-3).

After the match, however, Sinner dropped a bombshell in an interview with Eurosport Italia, confirming that Darren Cahill will no longer be his coach from next season, at the beginning of 2026.

"I met Darren's father when I played for Adelaide a few years ago, but it was quick. Seeing him again at training is obviously a special feeling.

Darren has been on the circuit for so many years. He said this would be his last year with me, so to be able to meet his family is always a beautiful thing.

He said in an interview that he would leave, so it's nothing new. We'll see," he declared.

Under the guidance of the 59-year-old Australian coach, who has been his coach since 2022, Jannik Sinner has moved into another dimension and reached world number one.

He won the Australian Open and US Open last year, as well as four Masters 1000 titles (Canadian Open 2023, Miami 2024, Cincinnati 2024 and Shanghai 2024).

The Italian also triumphed at the ATP Finals in Turin last November, forging a top-level record at just 23 years of age.
