Djokovic puts pressure on Nadal and Spain to come to Málaga
The tennis week is marked by the farewell of Rafael Nadal, who will officially retire after the Davis Cup finals in Málaga.
Spain take on the Netherlands at 5pm, and the Majorcan legend has been chosen by his captain David Ferrer to take part in the first match. It will be against Botic van de Zandschulp.
On home soil, the atmosphere is likely to carry the Iberian players against the Dutch nation. Nadal has already won the competition five times.
The king of clay is now aiming for a sixth crown to round off his incredible sporting career in style.
Djokovic to attend Nadal tribute if Spain reach semi-finals
The Spaniard's greatest rival, Novak Djokovic claimed several weeks ago after qualifying for the final in Shanghai that a part of him was going out with Nadal.
In fact, according to information reported by Marca, the Serb will be present at the tribute ceremony for the former world number 1, but on one condition.
Djokovic, who has a residence in Marbella, promises to attend only if Spain reach the semi-finals. For that to happen, the hosts will have to overcome the Netherlands later in the evening.
As for the players' motivation, it will surely be increased tenfold to ensure that Nadal gets a send-off worthy of the contribution he has made to the sport.
