Novak Djokovic can breathe a sigh of relief after his victory over Alexander Zverev in Beijing.

Having defeated the world No. 2 at the end of another battle lasting nearly two and a half hours, the Serb offered reassuring words about his physical condition, after showing some worrying signs early in the tournament.

"I feel good"

Asked after his victory whether he could enjoy the moment, Djokovic admitted he already had to think about what comes next, with a semifinal to play as early as tomorrow against Daniil Medvedev:

"I would have liked to have an extra day off to really enjoy this victory, but I don't have time. I'm already thinking about what I need to do to recover and get a good night's sleep.

I know I'll finish late again and that I'll be back tomorrow. Now I have to play every day. But it's fine.

Physically, I've been feeling pretty good these past few days, and tonight as well. I finished late in my last two matches, which each lasted almost three hours, but I feel good.

Honestly, that's the best news I could have had, because it hasn't been the case for most of the year.

So I'm already thinking about tomorrow's match and my next opponent. It was an incredible victory tonight, but the tournament isn't over."
