The 35-year-old player, a finalist in Cordoba last year, has accepted a provisional suspension after a positive test at the US Open. He states he will prove his innocence.

A new doping case on the men's tour. Argentinian Facundo Bagnis, formerly ranked 55th in the world, has accepted a provisional suspension following a positive test from the first round of qualifying at the last US Open.

Hydrochlorothiazide was found in one of the samples, a diuretic medication used, among other things, to treat high blood pressure.

As Bagnis did not have a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE), he began a provisional suspension on October 18th.

A two-time finalist on the ATP Tour (Santiago 2021 and Cordoba 2024), the 35-year-old player reacted to this news via a statement:

"This news completely took me by surprise. I am collaborating transparently with the ITIA to clarify this matter as quickly as possible. Furthermore, I have accepted a provisional suspension in order to devote my full attention to this process and to demonstrate that I have nothing to hide.

I want to clarify that I have never knowingly taken a banned substance. That is why I feel completely innocent. The truth will eventually come out with a just outcome.

With a team of doctors, toxicologists, and lawyers working by my side, we suspect a case of cross-contamination and we are doing everything possible for the truth to be established. That is our primary goal right now."

Bagnis's last appearance was a withdrawal in the second round of the Antofagasta Challenger in early October.
