Draper forced to withdraw from the United Cup
Jack Draper will not be playing in a warm-up tournament before the Australian Open.
The world No. 15, who suffered a hip injury at the start of the month, has had to withdraw from the United Cup, a mixed competition which kicks off on December 30.
In addition to withdrawing from this first competition of the year, Draper has also announced that he will not be part of the Great Britain team for the 1st round against Japan in early February.
On his Instagram account, the Brit explained the reasons for his withdrawal: "As I work to get fit and recover from this hip injury, I've been advised not to play the United Cup.
Although we're positive about my participation in the Australian Open, I know I won't be able to start straight away in a tight schedule as I'm trying to manage my hip.
Together with Leon (Smith), we've also made the decision to replace me from the Davis Cup match in Japan to give me the chance to continue rehabilitating my hip after the Australian Open."
