Draper, head on his shoulders: "I'm not a show-off".
Jack Draper is one of the biggest talents in British tennis. At the end of the season, the 23-year-old left-hander played in his first Grand Slam semi-final at the US Open.
Draper is a quiet man off the court, however, and is committed to the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
His grandmother is affected by the disease, and in early December he organized a Memory Walk to raise funds for Alzheimer's research.
In an interview with The Athletic, the winner of this year's Stuttgart and Vienna tournaments talked about his state of mind when he's not at the tournament.
"In an individual sport, we're always focused on ourselves. That's important for me, especially as I hope to progress in my career.
But I also have a goal in my life outside tennis. I don't see what I do on the court as something very impressive.
Saying that may be seen as odd because I'm 15th in the world, but if I go out and meet other people, I'm never going to talk about my tennis performances.
What I do on the court is not, in my opinion, exceptional. And I really mean that, even though I play professionally all year round.
I'm not a show-off, I always drive a second-hand Polo," he elaborated.
