Ferrer on Nadal: "He always has an open door and he knows it".

Ferrer on Nadal: He always has an open door and he knows it.

Former world number 3 and captain of the Spanish Davis Cup team, David Ferrer is an important name in the world of tennis.

Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of Spain's debut against the Czech Republic on Wednesday, Ferrer was naturally asked about Rafael Nadal.

Known to be a close friend of 'Rafa', the 2013 French Open finalist declared: "He has a clear objective in his calendar since the end of the Olympic Games: to play the Laver Cup and then the exhibition in Saudi Arabia.

And he's in a different moment. He wanted to rest, disconnect... It was something he needed and we'll see.

Once all this is over, when he has to decide what he wants to do, he'll let me know.

When I talk to him, I want him to be okay. The important thing is that he's happy and content.

He always has an open door and he knows it."
