Four semifinalists at the Australian Open without losing a single set? That's the stat circulating since the qualifiers in the final four of Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula.

As noted by Jeu, Set et Maths on X (formerly Twitter), such a scenario had never occurred in a women's Grand Slam draw in the 21st century.

A Rare Situation in the Open Era

In the Open Era, having four semifinalists without conceding a set had happened four times before, but with some nuances to add.

For example, the 1970 Australian Open saw such a scenario, but the players had only played three matches before reaching the semifinals. And at the US Open in 1976 and 1980, some players benefited from a bye in the first round at that time.

Only Roland-Garros, in 1995, is thus on the same level as the feat achieved by Sabalenka, Svitolina, Rybakina, and Pegula this year in Melbourne.
