Fritz: "I'm sorry I didn't make it".
Taylor could do nothing against Jannik Sinner in the US Open final. The American lost in three sets (6-3, 6-4, 7-5) despite serving to win the third set. He was understandably very disappointed after the match. He explained.
Taylor Fritz:
"Yeah, it's... It was, uh... It's been an incredible two weeks, and...
First of all, congratulations to Jannik. He played a great game. Congratulations to his team.
That's really impressive. He was too good. I mean, it's incredible.
But I want to thank my team. My coach, Mike, Wolf, Morgan. My parents are here. My whole team. It's incredible to have such a support system around me. It's thanks to them that all this is possible.
I'd also like to thank my other coach, Paul, who isn't in the box today. But yes, it's been an extraordinary journey.
And thanks to the fans for everything they've done this week. To be an American at the US Open is just incredible. I've felt the love all week. Thank you so much.
I know we've been waiting a long time for a champion. I'm sorry I couldn't make it this time. But I'm going to keep working and hope to make it next time."
