Goffin mate Mannarino, all the French are out!

It's now official: there are no longer any French representatives in the men's draw at the 2024 US Open, and not even in the second round.

The last remaining French player, Adrian Mannarino, was unable to find the key against a David Goffin who was back to his best (6-7, 6-3, 6-2, 7-6).

Although very combative, as evidenced by his narrow first set win, Mannarino simply didn't have what it took to win this match.

Despite a fine victory over Coric in the first round (7-5, 6-2, 6-3), the 36-year-old had to bow to a much more confident Belgian.

At the start of the match, the Frenchman was on an 11-match winning streak, while Goffin had won 8 of his 10 matches.

Confirming his fine performance in the first round, where he toppled Tabilo, the former world No.7 now advances to the third round, where he will face Tomas Machac.
