"I have other commitments I cannot get out of," Petchey discusses his relationship with Raducanu
Despite encouraging results on grass, the Petchey-Raducanu duo is unlikely to continue long-term. According to the Brit, his obligations with Tennis Channel would prevent him from continuing with the 22-year-old player:
"I think we're on a short-term project. Our situation is a bit up in the air right now. I'll help her this week as much as I can, but I have other commitments I cannot get out of. We’re aware she needs a second coach—or maybe even just one coach—but that’s not me.
All I’m trying to do is facilitate the best possible environment for Emma so she can produce the best possible tennis. Whether that involves me or not isn’t a concern for me; we’re just trying to find something stable and good for her."
Eliminated in the second round of Wimbledon, Raducanu will now focus on the American season, starting with the Washington tournament scheduled for July 21-27.
