McEnroe sees Alcaraz ahead of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic at the same age

John McEnroe visited the Élysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday to receive the Légion d'Honneur. It was an opportunity for him to talk about the French Open and tennis in general. The American, winner of 7 Grand Slam titles, praised the uncertainty reigning in the tournament's men's draw this year.

The former world number 1 also praised the achievements and unthinkable levels reached by Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. However, in his eyes, one player surpasses all three in terms of precocity. It's Carlos Alcaraz. McEnroe is simply overwhelmed by the Spaniard's extraordinary tennis skills at just 21 years of age.

John McEnroe: "Nadal is one of the greatest of all time, who has reached a level we never imagined possible. Just like Roger (Federer) and Novak (Djokovic). And then a guy like Carlos Alcaraz comes along and you think 'my god'! You know, I've never seen such a strong player at that age. With such a complete talent. It seemed impossible after knowing the three greatest players who ever lived."
