Medvedev qualifies without convincing
Daniil Medvedev didn't exactly impress the world on Wednesday. Faced with Alexandre Muller from France, he didn't make his task any easier.
Displaying a rather disappointing level of tennis, he needed almost 3 hours 30 minutes of play to get through (6-7, 7-6, 6-4, 7-5).
Stammering, the Russian gave a lot away (46 unforced errors, 33 winners) and even came close to going down 2 sets to 0. Taking advantage of the emotional fever of a very combative opponent, he secured his ticket for the rest of the tournament, but will have to do much better if he wants to go far in London.
In the next round, he will face the winner of the match between Zhang and Struff. He could therefore meet up with the last player to have beaten him, since the Chinese had knocked out Medvedev in the 2nd round in Halle (6-3, 2-6, 7-6).
