Mpetshi Perricard continues his dream run at Wimbledon to reach the Top 50!
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard continues his meteoric rise on the grass of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Still ranked 205th in the world in January, the 20-year-old Frenchman is now guaranteed a place in the Top 50 of the ATP rankings after Wimbledon.
This Saturday, he qualified for the last 16 of the British Grand Slam by dominating Emil Ruusuvuori in four sets (4-6, 6-2, 7-6, 6-4) and two and a half hours. Initially dominated by the Finn, who defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2nd round, Mpetshi Perricard didn't panic and calmly raised his game to reverse the trend. He finished the match with an excellent ratio of 53 winners to 34 unforced errors.
The Frenchman will now face the winner of the match between Lorenzo Musetti and the surprising Francisco Comesana on Court 14, in a bid to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
