Muguruza on Nadal: He told me 'this is my last season'

Garbine Muguruza, two-time Grand Slam winner and former world number one, has not been a professional tennis player since last April.

Now retired, the 30-year-old Spaniard recently spoke to Tennis.com.

Asked about the end of Rafael Nadal's career, Muguruza made a rather surprising revelation, explaining that her compatriot had made certain confidences to her during their last meeting in April.

She explained: "It's difficult to get to know him. He's very shy, but we chatted a bit at the Laureus Awards in Madrid earlier this year.

He told me: 'This is my last season', but he didn't say anything else. I don't want to ask him any personal questions."
