Navarro on Zheng: "I felt a bit scorned by her".

Navarro on Zheng: I felt a bit scorned by her.

The storm clearly hasn't subsided.

Qualified for the semi-finals, Emma Navarro once again lashed out at Qinwen Zheng, lamenting the lack of respect she felt the Chinese player showed her.

Following her defeat by the world number 7 in the last 16 of the Olympic Games, Navarro criticized her rival's attitude: "I told Zheng at the net that I didn't respect her as a competitor.

I think she does things in a pretty brutal way, so there's not much camaraderie in the locker room."

Questioned in the press conference following her qualification for the US Open semi-finals, the American was asked about a potential reunion with the 21-year-old.

A reunion which will not take place, as Sabalenka logically dominated Zheng in the quarters (6-1, 6-2).

Far from calming things down, Navarro explained: "I don't want to go into too many details, but I think that during this match, but also on the training court and the last few times I played her, because we've been playing against each other since we were juniors, I felt a little scorned by her.

You know, I don't want, as I said, to go into too much detail.

But yes, I think she didn't necessarily treat me with respect. That's why I said what I said after the match."
