The duel between Alcaraz and Sinner in Beijing voted best ATP match of the year

On Monday, the ATP published its Top 5 most beautiful matches of the season (excluding Grand Slam tournaments), with first place unsurprisingly occupied by the spectacular final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in Beijing (6-7, 6-4, 7-6).

The Spaniard won the tournament after 3h21 of play and a final tie-break in which he overcame a 3-0 deficit. The two men played the longest match in the history of the ATP 500 in Beijing.

Second place went to the extremely close Cincinnati semi-final between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev (7-6, 5-7, 7-6), won by the Italian after 3h07 of play.

A victory that paved the way for his title win over Frances Tiafoe in the final the following day.

On the last step of the podium was the Monte-Carlo semi-final between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner (6-4, 3-6, 6-4).

The Greek came out on top after a fine battle lasting almost three hours (2h40 of play), winning the last four games of the third set when trailing 4-2.

But the match was also marked by a controversial refereeing error against Sinner.

To continue in the Top 5, the ATP has placed the Hamburg final between Arthur Fils and Zverev (6-3, 3-6, 7-6) in fourth place.

The Frenchman had won the tournament after a 3h30 battle, with break points saved at 5-5 in the final set.

Finally, Alexander Zverev's unexpected United Cup victory over Hubert Hurkacz (6-7, 7-6, 6-4) ranks fifth.

The German saved two match points in the tie-break of the second set to keep his team alive in the final against Poland.
