Naomi Osaka continues her slow return to the top.
Still in search of her very best, Osaka recently looked back on the emotions she felt during her first-ever Grand Slam title, at the 2018 US Open.
While she seems to have learned to step back since then, she explained that the criticism she received at the time had particularly hurt her: "After I won my first US Open, I went on social networks and the night after I won, I received bad treatment and read a lot of people saying I didn't deserve to win.
Oh my God! I remember I started crying a lot. And I still think about it a lot.
Honestly, now I don't mind people's criticism and I hardly see it anyway. But when I think about the past, it's very painful."
