Paolini, an atypical personality: "I'm not like Sinner or Djokovic".
Jasmine Paolini: "You know, when I started playing tennis, I was just having fun, not dreaming too much. Then I started training like a professional. I dreamed of becoming a professional player.
I never dreamed of being world n°1 or winning a Grand Slam tournament. I never dreamed that big, ever. I never even dreamed of being in the Top 10. I hoped, but I didn't really believe. I think, step by step, I began to believe in it, to dream. But of things close by, not too far away.
I don't think that's so positive, because I think it's important to dream. I started dreaming step by step, not looking too far ahead.
For me, it's very surprising to see interviews with Nole (Djokovic), when he was a kid, saying he wanted to become world No. 1 and win Wimbledon. I watched him say that, and I thought it was incredible that you could dream that as a child. You know, I didn't dream that as a child.
It's incredible to see Jannik (Sinner), when he was 15, say that his dream was to become world n°1. For me, it's something different. I've never dreamed of reaching a Grand Slam final. And I'm here and I'm so happy. But it's different, I'm a different kind of person, I think."
